Back Scratcher
See Heel Grab.
Bail
Verb: See Grounding and sheer lack of class, proper loosing it and just giving in to gravity. Blood and grazing optional.
Beams
as in: "Don't cross the..." this can result in Grounding.
Bindings
Noun: The all important clips that hold your feet on to the footplate.
Bocker
Noun: Person who uses Powerisers.
Bocking
Verb: Person(s) who partake in the Powerising phenomenon. Also known as Powerbocking. Named after Alexander Bock who originally patented the design.
Bounding
Verb: Long spring-propelled strides, not running, essentially extended steps allowing the Bocker to cover more ground in a shorter amount of time. This can vary in speed but on an equivalent ratio of pace to that of a jog for a pedestrian. Also known as Loping / Lope.
Bottom Out
Verb: When so much downforce has been produced from Slamming that the base of the foot hits the underside of the footplate. This results in the impact being transferred most often to the lower spine which really hurts.
Car Jump
Move: Sounds impossible right? It can be done if you have the courage, fast running and high jumping skills. Can be done as a straight jump or if you really want to show off, performed with a front somersault.
Chav
See WankerZ.
Flip
Move: Forward or backward somersault whilst in the air. This is the trick we all want to be able to do, but only a handful actually can.
Footplate
Noun: The part of the Powerisers where your foot sits.
Giant Leap
Move: Jumping high and doing the front splits by kicking one leg out in front and the other behind.
Gnarly
Expression: Old surfer term for something really good, cool, hip, down wid' it, great, excellent etc etc.
Grounded
Verb: When a Bocker has sufficient support to stand without having to shift their center of gravity. Essential for mid-bocking maintenance or when at the Mark™.
Grounding
Verb: When you Bail but not too severely, little to no impact, a generic stacking. This is most often a controlled fall.
Ground Support
Noun: Person(s) who volunteer to walk with Bockers ready to assist where possible, be it carrying water or other essentials, WD40* and crowd control if necessary.
*Other lubricants are available.
Heel Grab
Move: Jumping up, bending the knee and touching or grabbing one of the springs. Also known as the Back Scratcher.
Hoofs
Noun: Poweriser foot pads.
Kanga-Jumping
Move: Basic jumping on both legs at the same time.
Kicking The Moon
Move: Basically a one footed somersault. See www.swebounce.com for an example. Master this move and you will generally be considered a God.
Lope
Mark™
Move: Created and implemented by KiteMark (thus the ™) , this is the act of stopping for a scheduled pint halfway through a Bocking session. This is recommended for both social and health benifits (health to an extent).
Example: "Where's the Mark tonight?", "The Red Lion has a high ceiling."
Mods
Noun: Any modifications made to your Powerisers, these usually include taping of the springs or other methods of spring protection and fitting Tyre Socks.
Ooop ooop™
Expression: Developed over time by AdrenalineJunkieLuke (thus the ™) - Believed to have evolved from the Essex mating call this is a brief and high pitched signal generated by an excited Bocker. Also used as an abbreviated form of Gnarly.
Powerbocking
See Bocking.
Powerisers
Noun: Possibly the best invent in the history of mankind. These wonderful contraptions make all this fun possible. Sometimes abbreviated as Risers. Other names include: Fly Jumpers, Power Skips, Street Jumpers and Velocity Stilts.
Powerising
Verb: The act of doing something totally gnarly just for the sheer hell of it. Having the guts to try something new and just play full out for yourself, other bockers and the general public all for the shared goal of creating happiness and joy with one another. Also see Bocking.
Protective Gear
Noun: Protective Gear should always be worn when Powerising. Includes kneepads, elbowpads, wrist protectors, gloves and helmet. Helmet is optional if your don't particularly value your brain.
R-Bocking
Verb: Running at speed.
Reverse Kanga
Move: Kanga-Jumping but moving in a backward direction.
Risers
Rising
Noun: Abbreviated version of Powerising synonymous with Bocking.
Running
Verb: What it says on the tin, however this should be gradually worked up to as this incorrect technique can result in Bails and/or Street Pizza. Its VERY important that the beams dont cross, ground support to be wary.
Slamming
Verb: To jump and produce downforce by forcing your landing into your heels resulting in an increased vertical movement. Example: "You've got to f'king slam it, Becky!"
Splits
Move: Jumping up high and doing the sideways splits at the highest point.
Springs
Noun: The fibreglass Spring at the rear of the Poweriser. Probably the most important part, without this you won't be doing a whole of jumping.
Spring Stilts
Noun: Generic term for Powerisers, commonly used when describing them to the general public.
Street Pizza
Verb: See Grounding and Bail and amplify 10 fold. Street Pizza happens when someone takes a real severe fall and falls awkwardly causing severe damage to his/herself and risers resulting in immediate blood loss. This will require medical attention, ground support and other Bockers stop everything to help out.
Tantrum™
Move: Invented by Lukey (thus the ™) from PoweriserPages.com, this is the high speed repetitive jumping and flailing of arms that resembles the Bocker throwing a Tantrum™.
Tyre Socks
(US: Tire Socks) Noun: Pieces of tyre cut up and secured in place around the base of the Hoofs, this prevents the rubber base from wearing out, it's cheaper to fit new socks then the whole lower part of the leg.
WankerZ
Noun: Youth who exhibits signs of jealousy in a negative form rather than doing the right thing and asking questions and showing a positive interest. These WankerZ can be in pairs up to small groups, sometimes on bicycles and will not hesitate to hurl abuse and taunts. Synonymous with Chavs.
